Lydia (Pacchioni) Cross of Wilkes Barre, PA died at Allied Services Meade Street
Skilled Nursing on June 11, 2023, just a few weeks short of her 99th birthday.
Born in Coalport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Primo and Josephine Pacchioni
(Santarelli).
Formerly of West Wyoming, PA, she raised her three boys alongside her husband at
their family home in South Wilkes Barre. She was able to remain there living
independently well into her 90’s.
She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel E. Cross, brother Victor Pacchioni
and sister Rena (Pacchioni) Schall.
Surviving are her sons Phillip and wife Teresa, Wilmington DE, John and wife Monika,
Martinsville NJ and Mark and wife Traci, Wapwallopen PA, nieces, nephews, and
grandchildren, Jesse, Nina, and Miriam Cross and Durga Follmer.
Lydia was devoted to her family and left a legacy of love, and happy memories that will
be cherished by all who knew her. No one ever left her warm and welcoming kitchen
without something special to eat, and maybe a lesson on how to make it just right.
The family would like to thank the staff at Allied Meade Street Residence and Skilled
Nursing for their kindness to Lydia and her family. Special thanks goes to her friend and
neighbor Rosalie Hourigan whose help and devotion allowed Lydia to remain in her
cherished home throughout her later years.
Lydia’s funeral service will be held Friday, June 23 at 11:15am at Mamary-Durkin
Funeral & Cremation Services, 59 Parrish Street, Wilkes Barre. Friends and family may
call from 10:30am until time of service.
Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Antiochian Orthodox Cemetery.
