James J. Beierle September 27, 2023

James J. Beierle, 74, of Bear Creek Twp, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 27, 2023,
at Geisinger Wyoming Valley.
Jim was born in Wilkes-Barre on July 28, 1949, the son of the late Leo and Ruth Dunnigan
Beierle. He was a 1967 graduate of Elmer L. Meyers High School and attended King’s College.
He worked at ACME Markets and was the union steward; he later worked as an Organizer for
the United Food & Commercial Workers. Before his retirement, he was the Human Resources
Manager at Home Health Corporation of America, Norristown.
Known to all as “GTO Jim”, he was former president of the Pontiac-Oakland Club International
and was still an active member. The loves of his life were his daughters and his “doll babies”
(his granddaughters), all of whom he was extremely proud. He loved working on his Pontiac
GTOs and Grand Prix, listening to AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, and comedian George Carlin, and
playing cards with the Lloyds and Pomaneks. He was an avid movie fan and may hold the
Guinness World Record for the most times anyone has watched the Rocky movies. He loved to
tell stories and jokes, always coming up with the funniest nicknames for his girls. He enjoyed
watching the NY Yankees and Notre Dame Football. He loved to cook his famous chicken
soup, lemon chicken, and make rice stuffing for Thanksgiving. He never missed calling his
daughters and granddaughters to sing “Happy Birthday” to them.
Surviving are his daughters, Jeanette Bogdon and her husband, Michael, Mountain Top;
Colleen Beierle and her partner, Patrick Cunningham, Dallas; Jaime Lisman, Forty-Fort; Kelly
Beierle and her partner, Pete Goodeliunas, Wilkes-Barre; Regina Zorn and her husband,
Michael, Kingston; their mother Regina Beierle; sister and caretaker Kathleen Beierle, with
whom he lived; granddaughters Avery and Natalie Bogdon, Juliet and Margot Lisman, Lucy
Goodeliunas and “Little Punkin” Lydia Zorn; nieces Maria Simko and Mary Zaccone, great-
nephews (and his buddies) Jackson, Connor and Brandon Simko and great-niece, Natalie
Simko, numerous cousins.
A special thank you is extended to the friends and family who helped to take care of him over
the years, too many names to mention. We would also like to thank the ICU staff at Geisinger
Wyoming Valley for their compassion and care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Wednesday, October 4 in St. Robert
Bellarmine Parish/St. Aloysius Church, Hanover Twp. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s
Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
Friends may call Monday, October 2 from 5-7pm at Mamary-Durkin Funeral & Cremation
Services, 59 Parrish St. Wilkes-Barre.
