Louise M. Castrignano June 29, 2024

Louise Castrignano of Swoyersville passed away peacefully on June 29th, 2024.

She was born on June 21st, 1935. She recently celebrated her 89th birthday surrounded by family. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Rosaria DeAngelo. She attended Tunkhannock Area School District.

She attended Empire Beauty School, and had a passion in cosmetology. She owned a salon in her home, and took on many clients, who became life long friends.

Louise, and her husband Frank were lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, in which her husband was a 4th degree knight. They were also lifetime members of The Sons and Daughters of Italy. Their real love was UNICO. Her husband became UNICO National President in charge of all the chapters in the United States. They traveled the U.S. together to attend many functions for UNICO. They were also owners of a garment factory in Swoyersville for over 40 years, where she was a seamstress.

She was an active member at Saint Ignatius Loyola Parish, as well as Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, where she attended mass multiple times a week. She volunteered her time at each church to serve others in the Catholic Church community.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Frank Castrignano, whom she was married to for 66 years until his passing in October 2021, Brothers; Paul DeAngelo, Joe DeAngelo, Charles DeAngelo, Frank DeAngelo, James DeAngelo, Anthony DeAngelo, Russ DeAngelo, Tony Mirisola, Mikey Mirisola, Carl Mirisola, and Sisters; Josephine Mirisola, Vera Mirisola, Mary Mirisola, Sarah, Mirisola, and Jeanette Mirisola.

Mrs. Castrignano is survived by three sons, Dominic, Anthony and wife Sheri, and Frank and wife Debby; six grandchildren: Dominic and partner Amanda, Frank, Danielle, Destiny and husband Joe, Stephanie, and Jaclyn Castrignano; and five great grandchildren: Kallista, Thomas John (TJ), Brynlee, Lilah, and Dawson; Brother, William DeAngelo Sr., and sister, Marge Picone.

Join us in celebrating the Life of Louise Castrignano on Tuesday, July 2nd at Mamary-Durkin Funeral & Cremation Services, located at 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre from 4-6 p.m. The funeral will be held on Wednesday , July 3 at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, located at 116 Hughes St., Swoyersville, Pa 18704. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church on Wednesday.
