Nancy A. Trinkle July 2, 2024

Nancy A. Trinkle, 89, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully on July 2 at Country Meadows Retirement Community.

After graduating from Nanticoke High School in 1952, she worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone in Philadelphia. After her children were grown, she worked at Penn Hills and Shawnee, and she was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg.

Nancy made friends wherever she went. She mostly loved spending time with her family, including vacations at the beach, visiting cousins and stopping at Abes for a hot dog. She frequented the Pocono Playhouse and played many games of pinochle with her friends. An avid reader, she made frequent trips to the library followed by lunch at the diner. Nancy was a great cook, and her family will continue the tradition of making her roll out cookies at Christmas.

She was given remarkable care from her home caregivers, Erika and Joanne, at Country Meadows and from Family Pillars Hospice.

In addition to her parents, Thomas and Kathleen Malloy Callan, Nancy was preceded in death by her husbands Stanley Prodes and Joseph Trinkle, brother John Callan and sister Kathleen Elibuyuk.

She is survived by her children Michael Prodes of Saylorsburg, Stephen Prodes of Monterey, Colleen London and her husband Chris of Slatington, Sean Trinkle and wife Yvette of Polk City, and Shila Jones of Indiana. She also leaves 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson, sister Marilyn Beausoleil and her husband Bill of Chesire, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to American Diabetes Assoc., Susan G Koman, or the Monroe County Public Library

A viewing will be held on Friday, July 5 from 4-6 pm at Mamary-Durkin Funeral & Cremation Services, 59 Parrish St, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702. The blessing service and interment will be at 12pm on Monday, July 8 in the chapel at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
