Barbara Pisarcik, 86 of Wilkes-Barre, PA, passed away on Thursday, December 26th in her home with her beloved husband, Daniel by her side. Barbara was one of nine children born to the late Stanley and Clara Jamaca of Wilkes-Barre Township, PA. Dad likes to say he married the most beautiful girl in Georgetown. Dan and Barb met on a blind date when she was 15 years old. A year later they were married. This past November, they celebrated 69 years of wedded bliss. Well, dad will joke and say he’s been happily married for 3 years. If you know him, you know just how deeply he loved her, ever calling her his “beautiful bride.”
Exactly a year after Dan and Barb married, Barb gave birth to the only other man she ever loved, her son, Daniel Jr (68, Kingston, PA). She was so proud of his athletic prowess and attended and cheered for her son with vigor. Although she didn’t like him losing weight for wrestling or gaining it for football, she was always there to support him. Almost ten years later, Barb gave birth to her baby girl, Kimberly (59, Wyoming, PA). Barb enjoyed taking “Kimi” shopping, going out to lunch, watching the Hallmark channel, and visiting with her when she became an adult. She also loved Kimi’s dogs and would end conversations with Barb telling her to kiss and hug the babies for me. Barb was also blessed with two grandsons: David (35, Philadelphia) and Kristopher (preceded in death on February 29, 2016).
Barb retired as the director of the cafeteria of Bishop Hoban High School of the Scranton Dioceses after 35 years of service. Many of the students called her “Mrs. P” or more affectionately “mom”. It wasn’t uncommon for her to give away the leftover hot dogs and hamburgers to the students. And teachers would often request “to go” containers of her homemade chicken noodle soup and chili.
She will be missed by many including her husband, son, daughter, grandson, and numerous relatives, and nieces and nephews.
The viewing will be held from 4:00PM-6:00PM on Monday, December 30th at Mamary-Durkin Funeral & Cremation Services 59 Parrish Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702. Mass will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, December 31st at Saint Aloysius Church (Saint Robert Bellarmine) 143 Division Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
