Diane Atie December 17, 2023

Diane Atie, 62, of Mountain Top, our cherished daughter, mother, sister, and friend, passed away
surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, December 17 th , 2023. Born to Charles W. (“Bill”)
Pursel II and Janet (Reibsome) Pursel on June 7, 1961, in Irvington, NJ, Diane was a proud
graduate of Lewisburg High School (1979) and Bloomsburg University (1985). Her professional
journey was marked by years of dedicated service as a property manager at Pursel Management
Group and in assisting in the expansion the family’s Atie’s Bakery.  However, her most beloved
role was that of a homemaker, where she nurtured and raised her children with unwavering
devotion.
Diane’s life was rich in relationships and accomplishments. Preceded in death by her brother,
Charles W. “Billy”; Pursel III, she leaves behind a trove of fond memories for her parents; her
siblings Brian Pursel and wife Michelle Pursel, Virginia Pursel, Pamela and husband Robert
Conner, and Beth Pursel; her children Adam Oliveri and wife Felice Gerstel-Friedman, Andrea
Oliveri and husband Aaron Alexander, and Vanessa and Nina Atie; and her partner and former
husband Tony Atie. Each of these individuals, along with her grandchildren and extended family,
were the center of her universe.
A visitation for friends and relatives will be held at Mamary-Durkin Funeral & Cremation
Services, 59 Parrish St, Wilkes Barre on Friday, December 22nd from 3-5 PM. A funeral Mass
will take place at St. Anthony/St. George Maronite Church, 311 Park Ave, Wilkes-Barre, on
Saturday, December 23rd at 10AM, with Father Adib Salameh officiating.  Everyone is asked to
go directly to the church on Saturday. A memorial gathering in Lewisburg is being planned for
early January 2024, with details forthcoming.
Diane’s life was a beautiful tapestry of care, love, and joy. An exceptional homemaker, she was
known for her culinary skills and a meticulousness in gardening and caring for her house. Her
hobbies included mountain biking, road biking, aerobics, yoga, walking and swimming. She
found great joy in attending live concerts and in spending time on the beach at Pawley’s Island,
SC. Diane’s caring nature, thoughtfulness, and ability to create a loving environment will be
deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she
touched.
The family would like to extend appreciation to Dr. Zachary D. Wolfe, Cynthia Brode, RN and
the staff at Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute, Dr. Stefan K. Barta and the staff at the
Abramson Cancer Center, and also to the staff at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart.
