Douglas Madjeski Mosciwjewski, a loving fiancé, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on May 1, 2024, at the age of 67, surrounded by his family, who were peacefully by his bedside. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Douglas was born on February 17, 1957, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, to the late Theodore and Dorothy Madjeski Mosciwjewski. He grew up in Wilkes-Barre and later moved to Mountaintop, PA, where he resided with his loving fiancé, Linda Arnold, for many years. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 815 and Catholic War Veterans, where he enjoyed camaraderie and community with fellow veterans.
Douglas had a passion for music and loved attending concerts and singing along to his favorite tunes. He was also an avid athlete and was a skilled pitcher on numerous softball teams throughout the years. Parrish Street Pool was a favorite hangout spot for him and his friends growing up, where they spent countless hours swimming, laughing, and making memories.
He graduated from Meyers High School in Wilkes-Barre, PA, and later retired from the local Painters Union. After his retirement, he worked as a security guard at Road Scholar Trucking in Dunmore, PA.
He is survived by his loving fiancé, Linda Arnold; children, Shawn Maiers Sr. of Wilkes-Barre, PA, Erica Madjeski of Georgetown, PA, and Mykayla Madjeski Wilkes-Barre, PA; step-sons, Larry Arnold Jr. of White Haven, PA, and Jeff Arnold of Mountain Top, PA; siblings, Theodore Madjeski Jr., Carl “Butchie” Madjeski, and Robert Madjeski; 8 beloved grandchildren, including his granddaughters Kaylee Alexandra and Alivia, whom he loved spending time with and cherished their special bond; and 1 great-grandson also his furry friend Izzy.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on May 15, 2024, from 10-11 am at Mamary-Durkin Funeral Service, Inc., 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, where friends and family can gather to share stories and memories of Douglas’ life.
