Edward E. Audi, 93 of Mountain Top, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton, with his daughter Randi, and son in law Jeffrey by his side after a brief illness.
Affectionately known by everyone as Jiddu (grandfather in Arabic) he can always be found talking to someone, attending his granddaughter’s sporting events, “bumping around” Sam’s Club, cracking jokes, passing out candy and dollar bills to the kids, or trying to collect that $20 bucks everyone owed him. He was the kindest most generous guy around. He made friends everywhere he went.
Born February 25, 1931 in Wilkes Barre, PA he was the son of the late George Audi, Sr. and Mary (Zaro) Audi. He was the youngest of the four children. He graduated from GAR Memorial High School. Edward joined the United States Navy from 1953 to 1955. After an honorable discharge he went on to work for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Supervisor for the Unemployment Offices.
On November 14, 1965 Edward married Jean M. Fiedorczyk. Together they raised two daughters settling in Mountaintop.
Edward enjoyed a long and prosperous career retiring from the Pittson office in 1986 with 30 years of service. Upon retirement he became an avid golfer cherishing the time spent on the course with his friends. If he wasn’t on the golf course shooting for another hole in one, he could be found at Pocono Downs or at Stanton Lanes bowling a 300 game.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Edward Audi, Jr. in 1967 and his beloved wife, Jean in 1984, and his siblings, John Audi, 2018, George Audi, Jr. 2019, and Marjorie Hamaty, 2023.
He is survived by his daughter and caregiver, Randi and her husband Jeffrey, Drums, PA and daughter Christa Hashagen, Mountaintop. Also left to cherish his memory is his granddaughter and “best friend”, Abigail Davis, Springfield, MA, grandson, Ryan Zielinski, and several nieces and nephews.
