George Tomko, 75 of Hanover Twp., passed away on April 28 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
George was born in Wilkes-Barre to the late Frank and Theresa Straub Tomko and worked all of his life as a truck driver, first for ACME Markets and then for Klein Candy Company.
George loved football, especially the Jets.
He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, Denise, daughter Peggy Ann Ashton, son George Tomko, Jr. and wife Debbie, stepson Jamie Steinson and wife Jennifer, stepdaughter Shannon Banashefski and husband Chuck, 12 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, brother Richard Tomko and wife Sharon, several nieces and nephews, his dog Max, and 2 cats.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Theresa and Nancy and brother Frank.
A celebration of George’s life will be held on Thursday, May 2 from 4-6pm at Mamary-Durkin Funeral & Cremation Services, 59 Parrish St. Wilkes-Barre. A eulogy will be given at the conclusion of the visitation.
