Joan DiPietro of Wyoming, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024 at the age of 93.
Joan was the eldest child of the late William and Della (Maslousky) Hughes of West Pittston. She graduated from West Pittston High School and afterwards, became a seamstress at the Emkay Company where she met her future husband, Daniel DiPietro. Joan and Danny settled in Wyoming where they raised four children, Robert, Diane, David and Dawn.
Joan was a devoted Catholic and a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Joan and Danny loved to travel and visited numerous countries and states as much as they could. Joan was a fitness and healthy lifestyle fanatic before it was popular and loved to exercise and stay fit. Joan also loved spending time outdoors and loved to watch the birds and plant flowers. Above all else, Joan valued her family and most importantly, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she always doted on with great love.
She is survived by her son Robert DiPietro and his wife Sharon; her daughter Diane Mamary and her husband Drew; her daughter-in-law Suzanne DiPietro; and her daughter Dawn Burns and her husband Leo. She is also survived by her grandchildren and their spouses; Drew Mamary and Luz Sanchez, Bobby and Karen DiPietro, Michael and Hannah DiPietro, Danielle Mamary and Jordan Collum; David DiPietro; Eric and Jack Burns. She has three great-grandchildren,
Sofia and Alex DiPietro and Norah Collum. She is also survived by her sister Barbara Fetsko, her brother Robert Hughes and his wife Debbie as well as many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Joan was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Daniel DiPietro, her son, David DiPietro and her brother, Ted Hughes.
Calling hours will be 4-6 p.m. Thursday, July 25 at Mamary-Durkin Funeral & Cremation Services, 59 Parrish Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 26 at 10 a.m. at St. Barbara’s Church, 224 Memorial Street, Exeter, PA 18643. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church the morning of the funeral. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
