John Garrah, 79 of Hanover Twp., passed away on September 3, 2024 in Allied Services Center City.
John was a son of the late Anthony and Mary Tamer Garrah. He was a 1963 graduate of Meyers High School and was most recently employed at Acme Warehouse.
John was a member of St. Mary’s Antiochian Orthodox Church, Wilkes-Barre and participated in the spaghetti dinners. He was an avid Penn State Football fan, participated in SWB Teeners Baseball, was a youth coach for his son’s sports, and was a faithful attendee of the daily coffee club with his friends.
John was a gentle soul who was most proud of his loving family and their accomplishments.
Left behind to cherish his memory are Elaine, his dear wife of 50 years, son John Garrah, Jr. and his wife Tina, 5 grandchildren Antonia, Khaliel, Keagan, Quinlan, and Marilyn, sister Barbara Milbrodt, brother-in-law Ed Lewko and wife Ninarose, several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his siblings Esther, Arline (NuNu), Joe, and Charles.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thank you to the staff at Allied Services Center City for their excellent care of John.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, September 9 from Mamary-Durkin Funeral & Cremation Services, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre with services held at 10am in St. Mary’s Antiochian Orthodox Church. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday, September 8 from 4 to 6pm with Trisagion at 5:45pm.
