After a long, courageous, very hard-fought battle with cancer, Joseph Earley, 58 of the Upper Askam section of Hanover Twp., passed away on Tuesday, September 24 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.
Joe was a son of the late James and Barbara (Glowaniak) Earley. He graduated from Coughlin High School in 1983 and then went on to earn multiple degrees from LCCC. Joe was a licensed general contractor and had been employed by the maintenance department at LCCC since 2014.
Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and dog Darla, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and he loved travelling and being outdoors, especially camping when time allowed.
Joe was like the Energizer bunny, always doing something. He was a selfless man who’s passing leaves an unfillable gap in the hearts of his family and friends.
Joe is already greatly missed by Lori, his beloved wife of 24 years, 3 step-children Stephen Morio, Jr., Josh Morio, and Gary Moses, brothers Michael, David, Randy, and Robert, his best friend and brother-in-law William L. Walters III, along with best friend Joe Edwards, many extended family, and his dog Darla.
The family wishes to thank everyone who has offered of themselves during Joe’s cancer battle, especially Hospice of the Sacred Heart and Pearlman Cancer Center (Penn Medicine), for their compassionate care of Joe and comfort for his family.
Friends may call on Monday, September 30 from 4-6pm at Mamary-Durkin Funeral & Cremation Services, 59 Parrish St. Wilkes-Barre. Pastor Craig Mark of Askam United Methodist Church will conduct a blessing service at 5:45pm.
Please consider making a donation in Joe’s memory to the Askam United Methodist Church, 2811 S. Main St. Hanover, Twp., PA 18706, where Joe was a member.
